A significant contribution for apples blooming in 2025 was presented in a sizeable sum.

In the heart of Fountain Valley, California, on August 23, 2025, the 2nd Annual SJVRC ONE MILE FOR ONE CHILD Orange County Charity Run took place, attracting approximately 1800 runners from all walks of life. This annual event, aimed at supporting underprivileged children in Vietnam, also extended its reach to Sudan, with donations going towards emergency aid.

The day was filled with a colourful supporting programme, featuring nature experience education and culinary highlights. The citizen bus offered a shuttle service, ensuring smooth transportation for the participants. The TV Vorst took care of the runners' catering, while the rural youth managed the drinks pavilion for a good cause.

The Turnerschaft and TV Vorst set up the route posts together with volunteers from action medeor, who also explained the use of donations. Stephanie Wickerath from action medeor detailed that the donations would be used to send gloves, antibiotics, malaria tests, infusion solutions, thermometers, masks, and medical supplies to Sudan.

Stephanie Wickerath summarized the run as a symbol of solidarity and global responsibility, while the event's patron and Apple Queen Nina I commented that the atmosphere was great and that sport and social commitment seemed to go hand in hand.

Lebenshilfe Kreis Viersen e.V. secured the parking spaces, ensuring a hassle-free experience for all participants. The event included runs for various age groups, from children's runs to half marathons.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to all participants, supporters, and sponsors, as the total amount raised was €12,412 - the second highest amount raised after 2019. This significant sum will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of many children in need.

Sports and health-and-wellness were prominent during the event, as numerous participants engaged in fitness-and-exercise activities. The 2nd Annual SJVRC ONE MILE FOR ONE CHILD Orange County Charity Run also showcased a science-adjusted approach, with Stephanie Wickerath detailing that donations would be used for medical supplies.
