News Article: New "White Zone" Established in Wiesbaden for African Swine Fever Control

The State Capital Wiesbaden has announced the establishment of a "White Zone" to help control the spread of African Swine Fever. This protective corridor, which can be seen through newly erected fences, surrounds the core areas affected by the disease.

The "White Zone" consists of two solid fences and is intensively searched for wild boar. Additionally, easements have been introduced for agriculture within the zone. However, no new information about the planned increased hunting easements has been provided in this press release.

Hunters can expect further hunting easements in the white zone, with intensive wild boar hunting planned. The authority responsible for the planning and execution of hunting operations within the white zone is the local forestry office (Forstamt) or the relevant municipal hunting authority.

Within the Schiersteiner Aue, the leash requirement and path system remain in place. Dogs must be kept on a leash, and citizens can direct questions to the responsible department or office within the State Capital Wiesbaden.

The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden, located at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden, can be contacted for further information. The completion of the fencing for the "White Zone" is scheduled for early October.

It's worth noting that no further changes to the fencing or intensification of measures, such as increased drone flights or additional easements for agriculture, have been mentioned for the Schiersteiner Aue in this press release.
