Almaty's Heroes: Honouring Veterans and Recruiting Strong Firefighters
Almaty's emergency services work tirelessly, ready to respond to crises at any time. They recently honoured their veterans and launched an initiative to attract young, strong firefighters.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) employees are always on duty, braving day and night, and various weather conditions. They must respond swiftly to emergencies, with firefighters needing just 19 seconds to don their protective gear after an alarm signal.
Muhit Kulugariyev, a former deputy chief of staff of the Civil Defense of the Kazakh SSR, shared tense memories, like the flood that hit Big Almaty. Despite the risks, these heroes, including firefighters, rescuers, and dog handlers, remain dedicated. Meirambek Kulanazarov, deputy chief of specialized fire station No. 5, stresses the importance of strong willpower and psychological resilience in their work.
To promote their profession and attract young, physically strong men, a strength challenge was launched. On the first day of spring, these brave employees celebrate their professional holiday. Given Almaty's seismic nature, earthquake drills are held quarterly in all organizations, including schools and higher education institutions. Aynakul Sapakova, a nurse with a 15-year career, believes mastering one's profession helps overcome fear in emergency situations.
Almaty's emergency services demonstrate unwavering commitment, facing challenges head-on. Their professional holiday serves as a reminder of their crucial role in society. The strength challenge aims to attract more dedicated individuals to join their ranks, ensuring the city's safety.
