Take a glance around larger corporations, and you'll spot home office arrangements aplenty. An astonishing 71% of businesses with 100 to 499 employees provide this perk, alongside 74% of firms boasting over 500 employees, according to a recent survey.
"Hybrid work models combining office and home office can prove advantageous for both businesses and their employees," insists Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst. With the labor market as tight as a drum, offering the opportunity for domestic work can be a game-changer, luring or retaining staff. Nearly six out of ten companies surveyed concur, believing organizations that don't offer home office face hiring difficulties.
46% of polled companies believe that recalls to the office are primarily aimed at weeding out unmotivated staff. Despite a two-thirds majority (67%) of firms fearing that working from home diminishes team solidarity, 44% also believe that employees typically outperform at home rather than in the office.
"Even the contentious discussion about remote work has become less tumultuous in corporate circles," declared Wintergerst: 41% think it's acceptable for employees to manage personal matters during home office hours. "Output isn't measured by the amount of time an employee spends in front of their screen. Flexible schedules can not only foster a healthier balance between personal and professional life but sometimes lead to increased productivity and better performance."
Bitkom surveyed 602 companies with twenty or more employees for this study in March and April of this year, ensuring the survey is representative.
