Arctic Facility Set for Launch in 2026
The Arctic Center of Epos and Culture, a significant cultural institution in Yakutsk, Yakutia, has faced a delay in its opening. Initially planned to open on September 27, 2025, the center has been postponed twice, with the new scheduled opening set for Republic Day, April 27, 2026.
Yakutia's head, Aisen Nikolaev, announced the initial plan for the opening during an inspection in January. The general contractor for the project is 'VIS'. Andrei Suslov, a representative of the territorial management of the 'VIS' Group in Yakutsk, confirmed the scheduled opening of the Arctic Center in July of this year.
The Arctic Center, spanning over 33,000 sq.m, is designed to accommodate 1,533 seats. It houses two theaters: the Olonho Theater, with over 800 seats, and the Yakutia Philharmonic, seating 700. The building stands tall at a height of 36.7 m and boasts 177 parking spaces.
The initial cost of the Arctic Center was 18.6 billion rubles in 2019. However, with inflation, today, the cost reaches approximately 29 billion rubles.
The postponement is due to the complexity of setting up the acoustic system inside the center. Despite the delay, the main work on the building of the Arctic Center is already completed.
