Arrest made in the case regarding the toxic contamination of a fish population
In a recent development, a 30-year-old local resident in Sochi, Russia, has been placed in custody by the court for allegedly selling poisoned moonshine at a market stall. The suspect, along with an accomplice, was found to be selling alcoholic products posing as homemade wine and moonshine, which were later confirmed to be toxic and linked to a series of methanol poisonings.
The incident took place at the "Kazachy" market in Sochi, where five people were hospitalized due to consuming the alcoholic products. Tragically, one person has died, and four are currently in critical condition as a result. The products were made by unknown persons using a primitive method, and the suspect was aware that the products could be dangerous.
The court's decision was made after reviewing the materials and confirming the suspect's custody. The court also granted a measure of restraint against the suspect, and the suspect's current custody period extends until October 4. This means the suspect will remain in custody for a duration of one month and 30 days.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to identify the original producers and other involved parties. The police, supported by the Russian Guard, have conducted raids at the market, confiscated alcohol, and are working diligently to ensure the safety of the public.
This incident is linked to deaths caused by methanol poisoning, a common lethal risk associated with illicit alcohol, including homemade spirits. The authorities have been cracking down on similar illegal alcohol sales along the coast, including the seizure of 161 liters of illicit alcohol from a separate case involving a 55-year-old seller from Abkhazia.
It's important to note that the charge against the suspect does not necessarily imply a trial for killing by poisoning, but rather for violating safety regulations in alcohol production and sale, which led to deadly consequences. The court in Sochi is currently considering the motion regarding the suspect's custody.
