Headline: 77-Year-Old Woman Successfully Undergoes HIPEC Surgery at National Scientific Oncological Center in Kazakhstan

Subheadline: Tamara Suslov, a resident of Pavlodar, has overcome a third cancer in her life, demonstrating the advancements in cancer treatment in Kazakhstan.

Tamara Suslov, a 77-year-old woman from Pavlodar, has made a remarkable recovery after undergoing hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) at the National Scientific Oncological Center (NSOC) in Astana. The procedure, which aims to improve survival by delivering heated chemotherapy directly into the peritoneal cavity during surgery, was performed due to her malignant stomach tumor at stage III.

The NSOC reported that doctors are optimistic about Suslov's condition following the surgery. However, no further information about her current condition or treatment plan was disclosed. The woman was discharged from the NSOC after an 11-day stay.

HIPEC combined with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) has shown promising outcomes for patients with stage III malignant stomach tumors (gastric cancer), though success rates vary by study and patient factors. Studies report that for peritoneal metastases from gastric cancer, CRS + HIPEC can significantly extend median survival and improve long-term outcomes compared to systemic chemotherapy alone.

Suslov's daughter took her to Korea for a course of therapy prior to her admission to the NSOC, but the exact cost of one course of therapy in Korea was reported to be 5 million tenge.

Before seeking medical help for the third time, Suslov had lost 16 kg. Despite this, she had previously successfully battled two other cancers: a rare form of breast cancer called Paget's disease in 2005, and colon cancer, which was removed without chemotherapy.

Altai Kerimkulov, senior resident of the abdominal surgery sector of the NSOC, stated that Kazakh medicine can provide all kinds of assistance. Further courses of immunotherapy are planned for Suslov as part of her ongoing treatment.

The Ministry of Health reported the discharge of Tamara Suslov from the National Scientific Oncological Center, and her story serves as a testament to the advancements in cancer treatment in Kazakhstan.

The combination of HIPEC and cytoreductive surgery (CRS) has shown promising outcomes for patients with stage III gastric cancer. medical-conditions such as gastric cancer can be managed effectively with these advanced therapies-and-treatments. In Tamara's case, further courses of immunotherapy are planned as part of her health-and-wellness journey.
