"Christina Applegate's 14-year-old daughter, Sadie, lamented the change in her mom since Christina's multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis, reminiscing about the mom she knew before the diagnosis."

In August 2021, Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a condition that affects the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Applegate, known for her roles in shows like "Married... with Children" and "Dead to Me," has been open about her journey with MS, particularly her heartfelt conversations with her 14-year-old daughter, Sadie.

Sadie, like many children in similar situations, has expressed missing the person her mother was before the diagnosis. For Applegate, this sentiment was "like a knife to the heart." Yet, despite the emotional and physical challenges of MS, Applegate finds her motivation in Sadie, stating that she is the reason she continues to fight each day.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler, another actress who also battles MS, shares a similar resilience. While details about her children's reactions to her health issues are not widely available, Sigler has expressed that she welcomes her children's expressions about her situation. Her older son, Beau (11), encourages her, viewing her health battle as something she will overcome. Her younger son, Jack (6), however, expresses frustration about Sigler's mobility issues.

Sigler's husband, Cutter Dykstra, makes daily sacrifices due to her health condition. Sigler, who shares Beau and Jack with Dykstra, reminds herself that she is the mother her children chose, and this strength helps her navigate her health journey.

Applegate's husband, Martyn LeNoble, stands by her side as well. The couple, who got married in 2013, support each other through the ups and downs of Applegate's MS battle.

If you're interested in hearing more about these inspiring women's journeys, tune in to "Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa," available to stream wherever podcasts are available. The show airs Tuesdays at 5 p.m. ET on SiriusXM's Radio Andy channel.

Both Applegate and Sigler serve as reminders that while MS can be a challenging condition, it doesn't define who they are as individuals or mothers. Symptoms of MS include numbness, tingling, pain, fatigue, memory problems, mood changes, blindness, and paralysis, but these women continue to face these challenges head-on, inspiring us all.
