Get ready, folks! April 11th is World Parkinson's Day, kicking off World Parkinson's Awareness Month. Across Australia and the globe, events will pop up left and right to educate the community about Parkinson's, the struggles of those battling this disease, and their caring companions.
Check out Parkinson's NSW's more than 90 Support Groups, who'll be working tirelessly throughout April to raise awareness. They'll be spreading the word, rallying support, hosting BBQs, brewing up morning teas, and offering information and education opportunities.

As part of the global craze, Parkinson's Support Groups in New South Wales gear up for a series of informative and fun events. Here's a sneak peek:
- Shopping Centre Stalls: Support groups in various towns, such as Temora, Tumbarumba, Forster-Tuncurry, Albury, Armidale, and the Southern Highlands, will set up information tables at local shopping centers, offering educational materials and opportunities for the public to learn more about Parkinson's and the support available.
- Presentations and Engagement: The Coffs Harbour Support Group invited their leader, Graham Saxby, to present at the local Chamber of Commerce, informing local businesses about ways they can support the Parkinson's community.
- Raffles and Information Sessions: The Port Macquarie Support Group organized a raffle and held an information session at the local library. The event attracted a Parkinson's Specialist Nurse, the Parkinson's NSW CEO, and the local member for Port Macquarie, demonstrating the importance of community and expert involvement.
- Exercise Programs and Monthly Meetings: Many groups, like those supported by WIN Television Griffith and the Coro Club, continued their regular exercise programs and monthly meetings. These groups rely on local partnerships for venues and resources, ensuring ongoing support and awareness.
