Communities advocate for a push to inoculate against COVID-19
The nation is preparing for the first administering of the newly approved COVID-19 vaccine in Germany on December 27, as outlined by official reports. However, the process is fraught with uncertainty, with many people expressing concerns about the vaccination process.
According to Helmut Dedy, the managing director of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, vaccinations will primarily take place in care facilities in the coming weeks. Initially, only mobile vaccination teams will be on the road, he added.
Vaccination centers are ready but cannot yet go into operation due to vaccine scarcity, as stated by Dedy. This scarcity has also prevented the centers from starting their operations, a situation that was already reported earlier.
The federal and state governments are under pressure to ensure that the public is adequately informed about the vaccinations in care facilities, as per Dedy's statement. To address this need, a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination awareness campaign is planned to start after Christmas. This campaign is being organized by the Federal Institute for Public Health (Bundesinstitut für Öffentliche Gesundheit, BIÖG), which has taken over from the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA).
The BIÖG is responsible for promoting public health information in Germany and the awareness campaign is expected to include TV spots, according to the report. Additionally, official websites could also provide information about the Corona vaccination, as reported.
The increased demand for vaccination appointments is unnecessarily burdening authorities, doctors, and central hotlines, as many people are currently asking for Corona vaccination appointments in numerous cities.
Gerd Landsberg, managing director of the German Cities and Municipalities Association, has called for a nationwide awareness campaign to start the Corona vaccination after Christmas. He believes that such a campaign is crucial to alleviate the public's uncertainty about the vaccination process.
Despite the challenges, Germany is moving forward with its vaccination strategy, aiming to protect its population and curb the spread of the virus. As more information becomes available, the public is encouraged to stay informed and follow the guidance of health authorities.
