Max Hollingsbee, a 21-year-old cunning manipulator from Lurgan, Co Armagh, is now doing time for more than five years after admitting to a litany of heinous child sexual abuse crimes. This despicable creep used social media to ensnare innocent teenage girls, employing the vile tactic of "catfishing" them, then forcing them into sending twisted, explicit images.
Hollingsbee's predation did not discriminate; his victims came from all corners of the UK, and it's believed that at least nine girls and young women fell victim to his cunning schemes, thirsting for his power, control, and sexual satisfaction. The slew of charges against him included inducing a child to partake in sexual acts, maintaining a trove of indecent photographs, and unauthorized access to computer material spanning the years 2021 to 2023.
Given his guilt, Hollingsbee pleaded to a laundry list of over 40 charges. At his sentencing hearing, Judge Donna McColgan angrily informed the sicko that he would rot in prison for 31 months, followed by 31 months on probation.
One of Hollingsbee's victims tearfully recounted her terror, locked in her bed during the ordeal, while another expressed bewilderment, questioning why anyone would subject another person to such cruel and inhumane treatment.
When Hollingsbee was still a teenager, aged between 17 to 19, he plied his vile trade, concocting a fabricated online persona to win the trust of his unsuspecting, gullible victims. With social media in his arsenal, he blackmailed, hacked into, and manipulated his victims into sending increasingly explicit images, even going so far as to set up fake accounts using images he'd pilfered.
Thousands of photos and videos featuring underage girls performing sordid acts were discovered on his devices, courtesy of one of his victims who bravely contacted the authorities, leading to Hollingsbee's arrest in November of 2022.
Unfortunately, this depraved predator struck again on April 7, 2023, and was detained for breaking his bail conditions from his initial arrest, in addition to continuing his sickening and abusive behavior.
When it comes to intelligence, Hollingsbee is said to be among the top 4%, but his insatiable addiction to power, control, and sexual satisfaction has ultimately led him down a treacherous and unforgiving path.
The Public Prosecution Service Serious Crime Unit head, Catherine Kierans, denounced Hollingsbee, calling him a "master of lies and deception" who preyed on innocent young victims, manipulating, coercing, and, in some cases, using blackmail to control them.
Detective Inspector Chris Fleming, speaking outside the court, categorically labelled Hollingsbee a "child predator" who had inflicted serious and long-lasting harm upon his victims and their families.
