Covoid-19 related heightened readiness lifted in Omsk region after five years
The COVID-19 Situation Remains Stable, Regime Canceled in Omsk Region
The COVID-16 scare is officially behind us, or so it seems! On Monday, May 5, 2025, Governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotzenko, announced the end of the heightened alert status concerning COVID-19.
According to the decree, the regime of heightened readiness for governmental bodies and emergency response units in the Omsk region will be abolished. The document reads, "Cancelling the heightened readiness regime for the organizations of governance and emergency response units of the territorial subsystem of the single state system for disaster prevention and liquidation of emergency situations in the Omsk region."
Let's refresh our memory - the heightened readiness regime due to COVID-19 has been in effect in the Omsk region since 2020. Significant parts of the regime, primarily mass gathering prohibitions during events not organized by authorities, have been the norm over the past few years.
A word of reminder - the overall COVID-19 situation in Russia is considered inactive at the federal level. In late March 2025, the governmental operational headquarters stopped releasing weekly data related to COVID-19, claiming the situation had normalized and the infection became seasonal. However, it was noted that the frequency of infectious diseases monitoring would continue, as carried out by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor).
