Cryptocurrency wallet Trust Wallet partners with Ondo to introduce tokenized stock and ETF trading.
In a significant move, Trust Wallet, the popular non-custodial crypto wallet, has announced its entry into the world of tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This expansion marks a transition for Trust Wallet, moving from a wallet provider to a platform hub and neobank.
The initiative will see Trust Wallet leveraging the services of Ondo Finance, a company specialising in the tokenization of stocks and ETFs. Nathan Allman, the CEO and founder of Ondo Finance, will be instrumental in this collaboration.
The initial launch of tokenized stocks will take place on Ethereum, providing users with direct access to a wide range of U.S. securities within their wallets. This move eliminates the need for users to sign up with a traditional broker, offering a more streamlined and accessible investment experience.
Ondo Finance is effectively doing for U.S. securities what stablecoins did for the U.S. dollar. They are providing onchain access to these securities, making them more accessible and tradable for a global audience. This access will be facilitated through Ondo Global Markets.
The activation of Project Crypto by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has renewed interest in the tokenized securities sector. Trust Wallet's move into this space comes at a time when tokenized stocks and ETFs have been a hot topic in 2025.
However, it's important to note that previous iterations of tokenized securities, such as Mirror, have faced challenges. Trust Wallet's entry into this space will be closely watched to see how they navigate these challenges and provide a user-friendly and secure platform for investing in tokenized stocks and ETFs.
As of 2025, Trust Wallet's TWT token has struggled to gain momentum, currently trading at $0.73, down 42% from its local high in January. Despite this, the launch of tokenized stocks and ETFs could potentially boost the token's value and attract new users to the platform.
With this expansion, Trust Wallet is positioning itself as a comprehensive platform for cryptocurrency users, offering not just a wallet service, but a hub for various financial services. Global investors can now access a large selection of tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs on Trust Wallet, making it a one-stop-shop for cryptocurrency and traditional investment needs.
