Expansion of Fiber Optic Network in Old Willich Progressing
Residents of Old Willich are encouraged to participate in securing the expansion of the most modern internet technology. The citizen initiative calls on all residents to help in this endeavour.
For personal consultations regarding fiber optic connections, Chairman Peter Mackes emphasizes that now is an ideal time. You can contact him at [email protected] or on the phone number 02156910434. The service point for fiber optic connections in Willich is open as usual, with specific hours on Tuesdays, Fridays, and by appointment.
Last week, there were network outages in Willich North and East during the funding expansion. The outages were caused by damaged lines during horizontal drilling by MUENET, the Kreis Viersen's contractor. Deutsche Glasfaser repaired the major damage with an emergency response, and Press spokesperson Ralf Klein thanked the emergency response team and the residents for their understanding.
Contracts for a fiber optic connection can be concluded on-site. A special appointment for fiber optic connections will take place on Saturday, July 26th, from 2 PM to 6 PM.
However, for the most accurate and up-to-date information about the fiber optic network expansion in Old Willich, you might consider checking the official Old Willich municipal website or local utility provider announcements, contacting local government offices or the service provider responsible for the network, or reviewing recent local council or village board meeting minutes that discuss telecom infrastructure projects.
It is worth noting that fiber optic providers like Clear Wave Fiber plan to expand broadband infrastructure through municipal rights-of-way, often governed by a 10-year agreement renewable in five-year increments. These agreements typically allow infrastructure placement within public rights-of-way, including new developments and annexations, enabling comprehensive coverage as the municipality grows. State statutes may restrict municipalities from charging franchise or permit fees for fiber infrastructure placed in rights-of-way, impacting municipal revenue from these expansions.
As of the current information, around 100 additional applications are still needed for the free expansion of the fiber optic network in Old Willich. Peter Mackes is the contact person for PRO Glasfaser Willich.
