Queen Margrethe of Denmark Freshens Up After Hospital Stay

Discharged from the medical facility, she left in recovery. - Discharged from hospital: Patient departs medical facility following treatment.

Here's a bit of cheerful news, folks! Bet you didn't see this coming: Queen Margrethe, aged 85, has left the Copenhagen Rigshospitalet and is back in her digs at Fredensborg Castle! The royal folks dropped the news in a snappy official statement, per the royal house's website, assuring us she's fit as a fiddle.

Catchin' a Cold, but Shaking It Off

So, what's the big deal? Well, the 85-year-young Margrethe had herself admitted to the hospital on Thursday, apparently because she'd come down with a cold. Fair enough, but that meant she had to scrap all her following engagements, y'know, just to be on the safe side.

Good ol' King Fred (56) swung by the hospital on Thursday to give her a pep talk and lend some moral support. The next day, the palace stated that she was feeling chipper and likely to be sprung from the hospital over the weekend – and they were as good as their word!

Abdication, or Just a Little Break?

This isn't Margrethe's first stint at Rigshospitalet, ladies and gents. Back in '24, she had a bit of a tumble at her summer residence, which is what set off those health concerns. People reckon that was what really made her step down from the throne in January – after some 52 years in the job!

Her eldest son, Fred (that's King Frederik to you and me), was crowned king of Denmark just a couple of weeks after her abdication. But don't worry – Margrethe's still an important cookie in the Danish royal house, and we often see her at official events.

Queen Margrethe's hospital stay at Rigshospitalet in Denmark, related in the news, may have been due to a common cold, but it highlighted the importance of prioritizing health and wellness, particularly during medical-conditions, even for a monarch. Despite this brief interruption, Queen Margrethe's focus on women's health and wellness remains evident, as she continues to participate in official events and uphold her position within the Danish royal family at Fredensborg Castle.
