A father, Ascencio Largo, found himself in hot water after an incident that endangered his four young children. The incident occurred near a sex shop in Phoenix, Arizona, where Largo left his children, aged between two and seven, alone in a hot car for nearly an hour.

The incident was captured on bodycam footage from the Phoenix Police Department, with officers being called to the scene by a concerned passerby. The temperature outside was a scorching 40°C (104°F), and the interior of the car reached a staggering 124°F (51°C).

Upon finding the children, police officers noted signs of distress, such as red, sweaty skin and crying. The children were dehydrated and showed other signs of heat-related illness. They were immediately taken to a hospital for observation and are expected to make a full recovery.

Largo was arrested at the scene. Initially, he denied ownership of the car, but further investigation revealed it was indeed his vehicle. He now faces multiple felony charges related to child endangerment. According to US media reports, Largo was reportedly intoxicated during the incident.

The judge expressed shock during the hearing, stating that Largo could have returned to a car full of dead children. Largo was booked on eight felony charges and is expected to appear before a judge shortly after his arrest.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe risk posed by leaving children unattended in hot vehicles. It also highlights the legal ramifications for neglectful guardians in such circumstances. The children are now with their mother.
