Dolphin Found in Baysug River, Later Freed in the Black Sea
A woman from the region of Adygea has successfully undergone a complex surgical intervention to remove a large liposarcoma. Despite the operation's intricacy, the patient's condition has stabilised, and she is currently receiving further treatment in the hospital.
The tumour, which weighed an impressive 12 kilograms, had significantly disrupted the function of the entire body. It affected the kidney, adrenal gland, inferior vena cava, and part of the diaphragm, causing the patient to experience increasing pain, constant heaviness, weakness, and noticeable weight loss for an extended period.
Unfortunately, the tumour was diagnosed with a significant delay, and the patient had not sought medical help for a long time. The examination revealed an extensive tumour that displaced internal organs, occupying nearly two-thirds of the abdominal cavity and extending from the diaphragm to the pelvis.
Oncologist surgeon Beslan Tkhabsimov commented on the operation, stating that the tumour's size and location made it a challenging surgical intervention. The operation involved the removal of not only the liposarcoma but also the affected tissues.
The republican oncology dispensary in Adygea performed this unique operation, marking a significant achievement in the field of medicine. The patient's identity has not been publicly disclosed.
Despite the challenges, the patient's condition has improved significantly, and she is now on the road to recovery. The medical team will continue to monitor her progress closely as she continues her treatment.
