Charley Hull Withdraws from Evian Championship Due to Virus-Related Illness

Charley Hull, the English professional golfer, was forced to withdraw from the Evian Championship after collapsing twice on the 4th tee during her first round. Hull had been battling a virus in the days leading up to the tournament, which ultimately overwhelmed her condition on Thursday.

The incident occurred after Hull woke up feeling dizzy, cold, and with no energy. As she played, her vision became blurred, and she fainted twice at the 4th tee. A security guard and medic caught Hull before she could hit her head on a concrete slab.

Hull's caddie confirmed that her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she was unconscious for over a minute. After the incident, Hull felt refreshed and expressed her gratitude for the medical help and support she received.

Despite starting the tournament with a one-under round of 71 and finishing solo second in a major championship in 2023, Hull was unable to continue competing. She later confirmed that she had been struggling with the virus all week and that it got the better of her on Thursday.

Hull will have another opportunity to win a major championship at the Women's British Open next week. In the meantime, she is competing in Scotland this week.
