Government alleged to have fallen short in all aspects, according to Pedro Delgado Alves' accusations

A loose-lips government that painted a picture of roses, blaming socialist incompetence for their own shortcomings, found themselves staring their own empty promises in the mirror at the first turn, according to Pedro Delgado Alves, a PS candidate, during a rally wrapping up the day of the PS secretary-general's campaign.

Alves highlighted the gap between promises and results, stating that the government "floundered where they touted revolution and swift action, failing miserably in sectors like housing and economy, which is now facing a slowdown."

"They didn't fix it, they made it worse," the deputy declared.

In Coimbra, the city of António Arnaut, founder of the National Health Service (NHS) and co-founder of the PS, Alves took a swipe at the government's performance in the healthcare sector as well.

"If you're searching for a more palpable representation of the contradictions in the AD's campaign promises by the AD government, look no further – it's right smack in the heart of healthcare," Alves emphasized.

He illustrates: - "Where they promised more family doctors, we now have fewer insured individuals today, where they promised to erase waiting lists, they actually extended them, where they claimed to end emergency room chaos, we have more closures today than in the same period last year."

"Where they expressed the need to revamp the NHS administrative structure, what they left behind was a legacy of dismantled local health units, causing havoc and disorder where it didn't previously exist," he also noted.

Alves stressed that "all elections are crucial junctures," but insisted that this one is "significantly so," given that "stability and trust are the cornerstones at stake next Sunday."

"In truth, the instability instigated by the government themselves led us to our current predicament," he emphasized.
