Guaranteeing Radiation and Chemical Security to General Public; No Danger Detected Reported by National Guard
Kuwait's National Guard has been vigilantly ensuring the country's safety by operating a top-notch, cutting-edge monitoring system. This system, centered at the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Center for Chemical Defense and Radiological Monitoring, acts as the first line of defense against potential weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), such as radiological and chemical agents.
In an interview with Al-Akhbar TV, Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Al-Lami, the Operations Officer at the center, emphasized that despite ongoing regional tensions, the radiological and chemical conditions in Kuwait have remained normal. No unusual increases have been detected, according to Lt. Col. Al-Lami.
Lt. Col. Al-Lami elaborated on the center's extensive capabilities, noting that they operate 29 land-based monitoring stations positioned across border areas, densely populated zones, and Kuwait's islands. Alongside this, there are 15 marine monitoring stations in the country's territorial waters, all equipped with advanced technology to detect radiation and chemical substances in both air and water.
According to Lt. Col. Al-Lami, these marine stations are highly advanced in detecting such threats, positioning the National Guard as a primary early warning system against WMDs. The critical data from this system is shared with relevant state entities via established communication channels.
Monitoring This constant vigilance has been an ongoing endeavor since 2015, with specialized teams working around the clock to ensure public safety. The monitoring efforts are integrated into routine national security operations, not just in response to specific events.
