In the heart of Western Romania, an Ophthalmology Hospital has been launched in Alba Iulia following a EUR 6 million investment, marking a significant stride in local healthcare services.
In the heart of Transylvania, Romania, the Dr. Holhoș Clinics network has established a significant presence with its specialized focus on ophthalmology. The network's latest venture, a hospital in Alba Iulia, has already made a significant impact, with total investments exceeding EUR 16 million.
Initially, the hospital was designed to address the need for hospitalization for complex eye surgeries, such as corneal transplants, and the lack of infrastructure and particular facilities only a hospital can offer. The hospital, the largest of its kind in Transylvania, boasts four operating rooms and 23 patient beds.
However, the vision for the hospital does not stop at ophthalmology. Dr. Teodor Holhoș, the founder of the clinic network, has outlined an ambitious expansion plan. The hospital is set to transition into a comprehensive healthcare provider, offering 22 additional medical specialties beyond ophthalmology. These include pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, cardiology, and many more.
When fully operational, the hospital will offer the full range of eye surgeries and, following the process of securing authorization, corneal transplant surgeries. The strategic expansion aims to position the hospital as a leading healthcare provider in the region, serving patients from across Romania.
The Alba Iulia hospital is the largest investment made within the Dr. Holhoș network. The network currently operates six clinics in Alba Iulia, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Turda, Mediaș, and Târgu Mureș, and 14 eye care practices located in towns across Transylvania. The network posted an annual turnover of over EUR 11 million.
Notably, the Alba Iulia hospital was built entirely with private funds. As the project developed, the decision was made to build a broader facility housing multiple medical specialties, reflecting Dr. Holhoș's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
This expansion marks an exciting time for the Dr. Holhoș Clinics network and the people of Alba Iulia. With the addition of these new medical specialties, the hospital will undoubtedly become a beacon of healthcare excellence in Romania.
The Alba Iulia hospital, an expansion of Dr. Holhoș Clinics network, is not only committed to improving eye health but also plans to address numerous medical-conditions, making it a comprehensive health-and-wellness facility. Beyond ophthalmology, the hospital aims to offer 22 additional medical specialties, such as pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, cardiology, and many more, positioning it as a leading medical-conditions care provider in Transylvania.
