Man, 26, Attacks Officer at Süd Police Station; Both Injured
A 26-year-old man from Marl caused a disturbance at the Süd police station on Wildenbruchplatz on October 3, 2025. He appeared at the station around 09:30 AM and proceeded to punch a police officer, resulting in a facial injury for the officer.
The unidentified man was highly disoriented and police struggled to identify him. He resisted violently, leading to a struggle with officers. Backup and a taser were required to subdue him. Both the suspect and the officer sustained minor injuries during the incident. The man was initially taken to a local hospital for treatment before being transferred to a psychiatric facility for further evaluation.
The 26-year-old man from Marl remains unidentified. He is currently receiving care at a psychiatric facility following his violent outburst and resistance at the Süd police station. The police officer involved in the incident has been treated for facial contusions.
