Massive recall of HydroTech hoses initiated following numerous bursts, resulting in over 29 injuries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of certain HydroTech 5/8-inch Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses due to a safety hazard. The recall involves hoses manufactured on or before August 31, 2024, and sold at major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Target, and others between January 2021 and April 2025.

The affected hoses can burst if the interior, plastic strain relief breaks or becomes fully unthreaded, posing an impact hazard and a risk of temporarily impaired hearing. To identify an affected hose, consumers should remove the black rubber washer on the end of the hose that connects to the spigot to view the manufacturing date code. The affected date codes end with -211, -212, -213, -214, -221, -222, -223, -224, -231, -232, -233, -234, -241, -242, -243, or have no date code at all. Hoses with date codes -244, -251, -252, and -253 are not included in the recall.

The recalled hoses come in various lengths and colors: 25-foot (blue), 50-foot (green), 60-foot gray hose included in an “Auto Care” kit, 75-foot (orange), 100-foot (yellow), and 200-foot (red).

Consumers who purchased the hoses from retailers such as Ace Hardware, Do It Best, Home Depot, or Walmart should return them to these stores for a full refund. Consumers can also initiate a claim online with Winston Products, the importer of the hoses.

It is important to note that no other HydroTech products, such as the PRO SERIES 3/4” diameter or FLAT JACKET lines, are included in the recall.

So far, Winston Products has received 222 bursting reports, resulting in 29 injuries, including temporary hearing impairment. The company urges consumers to stop using the recalled hoses immediately.

For more information about the recall, consumers can visit the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's website or contact Winston Products at 1-800-448-3943 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at www.winstonproducts.com.
