Ministry of Health in Kogi State Organizes Extensive Training on Family Planning for Health Aides in the Public Health System
Training for healthcare workers in Kogi State kicked off at the Edge Drive Hotel in Lokoja from September 14th to 22nd, 2025. The event, organized by MSI Reproductive Choices, saw the attendance of various key figures, including Dr. Muazu, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and Mr. Steven Momoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health.
In his opening address, Dr. Muazu emphasized the importance of fully engaging in the training program and attending all sessions. He also expressed concern regarding the inadequate data management systems in local government facilities, attributing these shortcomings to inefficiencies among personnel at the local government level.
Mr. Momoh, in his speech, highlighted the crucial role of health officers from local governments in the healthcare system. He stated that the training demands active participation, dedication, and commitment from all attendees. Participants were encouraged to be punctual, consistent, and actively engage in discussions.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health at the launch ceremony. He expressed appreciation for the training program aligning with the Ministry's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its healthcare workforce. The Commissioner also appreciated MSI Reproductive Choices for their initiative.
Participants were urged to reflect on the lessons learned and consider how to apply them in their work. They were also encouraged to network, collaborate, and share best practices with colleagues. Mr. Rotimi Odofin, Information Officer, Ministry of Health, Kogi State, was also present at the event.
