Mislabeled Cookies with Inaccurate Information Discovered in Retail Outlet

In a recent development, the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor, Russia's consumer rights watchdog, has reported that certain batches of "Caramel Mood" and "Rostov" cookies produced by LLC "Don Confectionery" have been found with inaccurate and misleading information regarding iron content.

According to test results, the iron content in the "Caramel Mood" cookies is 3.60 ± 0.72 mg/kg, significantly lower than the 10 mg/kg stated on the label. Similarly, the iron content in the "Rostov" cookies is 1.69 ± 0.34 mg/kg, also lower than the 10 mg/kg stated on the label.

The affected cookies, with expiration dates of 13.02.2026 for "Caramel Mood" and 25.09.2026 for "Rostov", have been found in a store in Chita. It is important to note that the management of LLC "Don Confectionery" is currently taking steps to identify and prevent the circulation of these mislabeled cookies in the consumer market.

The company's legal address is located in Rostov-on-Don, but the cookie production plant is situated at the same address. However, there are no current updates or records of an investigation or recall involving these sugar cookies from LLC "Don Confectionery" in Chita, Russia.

This issue does not comply with the requirements of the technical regulation TR TS 022/2011 "Food products in terms of their labeling". It is advised that consumers check with Russian food safety authorities or contact the company directly for the most accurate and timely information.

Unfortunately, this is not the only food safety concern in the region. Reports of potentially lethal mineral water and counterfeit red caviar have also been sought on the shelves of regional stores. Consumers are urged to exercise caution and vigilance when purchasing food products.

  1. In light of the ongoing health-and-wellness concerns, it's crucial for consumers to be informed about the accurate iron content in food-and-drink products, such as science-based therapies-and-treatments like iron supplements or iron-fortified foods.
  2. As lifestyle choices increasingly focus on health-and-wellness, it's important to be aware of the importance of accurate labeling in food-and-drink products, as misleading information can impact our dietary choices and overall health.
  3. To better understand the potential risks associated with food-and-drink products, individuals can seek information from various sources, including scientific research on food labeling, or by consulting health-and-wellness organizations that focus on food safety and wellness.
