Nizhny Novgorod Region Aims to Eliminate Second Shift in Schools, Modernize Healthcare in 2020 Budget

The Nizhny Novgorod region is taking steps to improve education and healthcare, with a focus on eliminating the second shift in schools and modernizing primary care. The deputy governor has discussed plans to address these issues in the 2020 budget, which is expected to be balanced and socially oriented.

In 2019, over 750 million rubles were allocated for school repairs, benefiting around 60 educational institutions. However, around 12,000 students still attend school in the second shift, and a project is underway to solve half of this niche issue.

The 'Prosvet' group of companies is contributing to educational improvements by implementing a project to build an educational center with four buildings in Nizhny Novgorod and Bor. This center will likely help alleviate some of the pressure on existing schools.

The region has also seen success in retraining programs, with over 2000 people successfully retrained this year. Future resources for these programs may include government funding, online learning platforms, vocational training centers, mentorship opportunities, and subsidies for continuing education.

The modernization of the regional healthcare system's primary care was also discussed, with social payments, healthcare expenses, and education development prioritized for funding in the 2020 budget.

The Nizhny Novgorod region is committed to improving education and healthcare. While challenges remain, such as the need to eliminate the second shift in schools, the region is taking steps to address these issues through infrastructure improvements, retraining programs, and a balanced, socially oriented budget.
