Berlin, the vibrant capital of Germany, is gearing up for an action-packed weekend filled with sporting events, festivals, and music concerts. Here's a rundown of what to expect.

Firstly, the Berlin Marathon is scheduled for this Sunday, promising an exciting day for runners and spectators alike. With over 55,000 participants registered for the 51st edition of the event, the streets along the marathon route, particularly in Tiergarten and Mitte, will be closed almost continuously until the end of the race. The Berlin Police has issued a general order that applies on both days from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Drivers should expect restrictions on Straße Unter den Linden and Potsdamer Straße on Saturday morning due to an inline skating race. Street closures have been in place on the Straße des 17. Juni since the weekend, and will be expanded throughout the week. Cycling will be maintained along the route, and pedestrians can cross the marathon route via the underpasses of the U-Bahn stations.

The city will also host several festivals this weekend. The Lesbian and Gay City Festival, Christopher Street Day, Love Train, and the Day of Open Doors of the Federal Government are all scheduled to take place. The Tokio Hotel concert is also set to entertain music lovers.

However, it's not all fun and games. Isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected in the Prignitz region at night from Saturday to Sunday. So, those planning to attend outdoor events should keep an eye on the weather forecast.

In certain areas of the Berlin Marathon route, people are not allowed to carry knives and weapons on Saturday and Sunday. This is a standard safety measure during such events.

The Long Night of the Museums, a cultural event where museums and exhibitions stay open late into the night, is also scheduled for this weekend. Visitors can explore Berlin's rich cultural heritage under the stars.

As of Wednesday, the Straße des 17. Juni is closed up to the Großer Stern, including the Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße. Additional street closures were announced for Wednesday, October 19, along the Berlin Marathon route, although the organization responsible for the announcement was not explicitly named. Typically, such announcements are made by the city of Berlin authorities or the Berlin marathon organizers.

Finally, today promises a calm and warm late summer weather in Berlin, making it an ideal day to explore the city before the weekend's events begin.

Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting events in Berlin!
