Recognition Ceremony for the Women in Business Law Awards 2025 on Our Site

In a recent awards ceremony held in the London office, the Corporate and M&A Group of a leading Irish law firm was honoured for its exceptional work in career development and women empowerment. The firm received the prestigious "Women in Business Law - National Firm (Ireland)" award, which recognises firms that have made significant strides in promoting gender diversity and career development in the legal sector.

Sineád Crowley, a rising star in the Corporate/M&A field, was also recognised at the same event. She was named "Rising Star - Corporate/M&A (National)" for her outstanding contributions to the group. This national award underscores her dedication and talent in the Corporate/M&A category.

The awards ceremony, which encompassed two different categories – one for Western Europe and another for Ireland – highlighted the firm's commitment to creating an environment where women can thrive and lead. The awards did not specify any additional categories for Sineád Crowley's recognition.

The firm's achievements in Ireland and Western Europe are a testament to its dedication to promoting gender diversity and career development. Notable examples include the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), an influential firm in the sector, launching an expanded Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy for 2025-2028. This strategy builds on their 2020–2025 strategy, which made significant progress in gender, ethnicity, and disability inclusion. The PPF exceeded the Women in Finance Charter target, achieving 53% female representation in senior management.

In Ireland, institutions like the University of Galway have secured Silver Athena Swan Awards at their J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics. These awards showcase a commitment to gender equality and career development for women in academia and business education.

The European Commission’s Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025 and the EU Pay Transparency Directive (2023) also play a crucial role in fostering gender pay transparency and career progression opportunities for women. These frameworks encourage firms to be accountable for pay and representation disparities and support women’s advancement in senior roles.

Louise O'Byrne, an EDI partner, collected the awards on behalf of the firm, further emphasising the firm's ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. The awards added another recognition to the firm's list of achievements, underscoring its role as a trailblazer in promoting gender diversity and career development in the legal sector.
