In a comprehensive survey conducted with over 16,600 participants, the "HomeCheck 2025" has shed light on the quality of life and resident satisfaction in Vorpommern-Greifswald. The survey, which included 1,577 participants from the region, focused on the areas of senior care and mobility for older people.

The results reveal a dissatisfaction among the people of Vorpommern with senior care and healthcare. The survey participants, mostly seniors living in rural areas, expressed concern about social isolation due to limited mobility and inadequate public transportation connections.

Criticism was directed at the lack of specialist and general practitioners in rural areas, long waiting times for appointments, and the perceived inadequacy of outpatient nursing services. Many citizens complain about having to travel long distances to healthcare facilities, a situation that is particularly burdensome for older people with limited mobility.

The lack of medical professionals, particularly doctors and nursing staff, is a major concern in smaller towns of Vorpommern-Greifswald. Many survey participants expressed a desire for polyclinics, reminiscent of the GDR model, to improve healthcare in the region.

Despite identified problems, the survey participants' attachment to their region remains strong. Social cohesion and the willingness to work towards improvements were repeatedly praised.

There were, however, some positives to note. The University Medicine Greifswald, which recently took over the Cardiac Clinic in Karlsburg, is highly regarded in Vorpommern. The Asklepios Clinic in Pasewalk and the Ameos Clinics in Anklam and Ueckermünde also performed well in the survey.

The survey results show that health and senior care should be given the highest priority to improve the quality of life in Vorpommern-Greifswald. Improvements in these areas could make the region more attractive and significantly ease the daily life of the population. Many participants expressed a desire for their concerns, especially in the areas of health and senior care, to be more strongly considered in political decisions.

The next focus of the survey results will be on the real estate market. The search results do not specify which individuals from Vorpommern-Greifswald participated in any survey.
