Route Safety for Commuting to School
In a bid to enhance safety on school routes, the KRÜGER Group has donated 1,070 reflective vests to first-graders at municipal primary schools in Bergisch Gladbach. The official handover of these vests will take place on September 17, 2025, during the European Mobility Week, at 10:00 am, at the schoolyard of GGS Paffrath.
The handover ceremony will be attended by various dignitaries, including the school management, all first-graders, the principal of GGS Paffrath, Susanne Heuckmann, managing directors of IP GL, representatives of the KRÜGER Group, and other notable figures.
The reflective vests, which are neon-green, offer additional safety in road traffic for the students, making them more visible and recognizable much earlier. This donation aims to give parents and children a good feeling for the start of the day, knowing that their children are safer on their way to school.
Susanne Heuckmann, the principal of GGS Paffrath, expressed her satisfaction with the safety vests, praising the initiative as a significant step towards ensuring the safety of the students. The children, parents, and teachers of the primary schools are also happy about the safety vests, as many students walk to school.
The Infrastructure and Project Company Bergisch Gladbach (IP GL) GmbH, the leading authority for traffic safety measures in the city, issued a press release regarding the distribution of these safety vests. IP GL has made it its task to increase the safety of first-graders and equip them with reflective safety vests.
This is the second time the KRÜGER Group has provided financial support for the provision of these safety vests to the first-graders. Willi Schmitz, one of the two managing directors of IP GL, stated that ensuring safety vests for first-graders is a matter close to their hearts.
Nurten Bongard, Senior Communication Manager of the KRÜGER GROUP, mentioned that good visibility in road traffic is crucial, especially in the dark season. She emphasized that the donation is part of the KRÜGER Group's commitment to contributing to more safety on the school route in Bergisch Gladbach.
The remaining primary schools will receive the safety vests from the 37th week onwards for distribution to the respective entrance classes by GL-Service gGmbH or the police. This initiative not only promotes safety but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility among all stakeholders in the city.
