"Spouse Inquires About Wife's Life, Resulting in Her Suicide; Accuses In-Laws"
A 23-year-old woman from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, identified as Amreen Jahan, took her life and recorded the heartrending act on her phone, accusing her husband, father-in-law, and sister-in-law of relentless mental torment in the aftermath of a miscarriage.
Married only four months ago, Amreen, who was a love match, lived with her spouse's family in Moradabad while he worked as a welder in Bengaluru. In the final days before her tragic demise, she recorded a video that documented the allegations of emotional abuse, neglect, and coercion by her in-laws.
In the video, she held her husband partially responsible for failing to understand her plight and stated that his father and sister were responsible for her suffering due to their actions and whispers that swayed him. Amreen claimed she had been taunted and told to end her own life, with her husband asking, "Why don't you die?"
Subsequent to this distressing video, Amreen alleged that her in-laws demanded the money spent on her medical treatment when she was unwell. She expressed her despair and bewilderment, questioning how she could repay the urged funds, given her husband's absence.
Her last words were the poignant admission, "I don't know what will happen when I die, but I will be better off than I am now."
Following the tragic event, her father, Salim, filed a police complaint, claiming that she had reached out to him on the day of her passing, crying and pleading for help, as her life was in danger. Upon arriving at her residence, Salim found Amreen deceased.
