Tulsa's Prevention & Play: Free Family Safety Fair Aims to Curb Substance Abuse
Tulsa residents are invited to a free, family-friendly event aimed at promoting safety and preventing substance abuse. The Prevention and Play community safety fair, hosted by a local website and the Stop DUI Task Force, is set to take place on July 27, 2024, at the Genesis Center.
The event, sponsored by several local organizations including the Coalition Against Prescription and Substance Abuse of Tulsa, Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, and Tulsa Fire Department, will offer a variety of activities and informational booths. It coincides with the Memorial Day to Labor Day period, historically a high-risk time for alcohol-related crashes. In 2021, nine lives were lost and eight people were injured in such incidents in Tulsa County during this period. To help prepare families for the upcoming school year, immunizations will also be available at the event.
Prevention and Play is a fun-filled opportunity for families to learn about safety and substance abuse prevention. The event will take place on Saturday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Genesis Center, 4929 S. Waco Ave. Admission is free.
