Twenty-two-year-old Stuart Latham, a catfisher, is now behind bars for impersonating a 14-year-old to 39 minor females.
Stuart Latham, a 22-year-old from Wigan, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a series of child sex offenses. The trial took place at Preston Crown Court, where Latham pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including rape, blackmail, sexual communications, causing or engaging in sexual activity with a child, making and distributing indecent photographs, and possessing extreme pornography.
Latham's crimes came to light in December 2023, when he was initially arrested. It was discovered that he had pretended to be a 14-year-old named 'Josh' on Snapchat, targeting hundreds of girls, mostly aged between 12 and 15. He amassed around 4,000 indecent images, many of which were obtained through blackmailing his victims.
The offenses committed by Latham were not limited to one location. They occurred across the UK. One of the most heinous acts he committed was the rape of a 12-year-old girl. He also physically abused two young girls.
During the sentencing, Judge Parry addressed the two tearful victims in court. The judge praised their bravery and told them they should be proud of themselves as they move forward. Both of Latham's first victims were present during his sentencing.
Judge Parry also stated that the victims have all beaten Latham. This was evident when Latham abused his first victim's friend after his first victim told the authorities about their sexual relationship.
The name of the victim who testified after Latham's arrest and thereby enabled the discovery of his crimes is not provided in the available search results. No information was provided about the potential victims of HIV transmission.
Latham treated his activities as a job, spending day after day online. His crimes have left a lasting impact on the lives of his victims, and he will now serve a 14-year prison sentence for his actions.
