Woman experiences anaphylactic reaction following hornet assault
A woman in her mid-twenties suffered an allergic shock after being attacked by hornets in Toepler Park, Dresden-Tolkewitz, on a Friday. The incident was reported by dpa, the German press agency, and emergency services treated the victim on the same day.
The hornets' nest, located near a meadow in the park, was removed by the Dresden Environmental Office on Saturday. The nest was found in the drip edge of a garden shed within the park.
Following the incident, the area around the meadow was cordoned off, and the park remains open to the public, but the cordoned-off area is still closed.
No further details about the victim's condition were provided, but the Dresden Environmental Office has emphasized the importance of not attempting to remove a hornet nest on one's own. They encourage anyone who encounters a hornet nest to contact them immediately.
The Dresden Environmental Office has also advised visitors to be vigilant and avoid disturbing any potential hornet nests. They have stated that they will continue to monitor the area for any signs of new hornets' nests and have warned that hornets can be aggressive when disturbed.
The removal of the hornets' nest was necessitated due to public safety concerns, and the office has reiterated their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for park visitors. They also encourage everyone to enjoy the park responsibly and to respect the local wildlife.
Since the removal of the hornets' nest, no further incidents have been reported. The Dresden Environmental Office announced the incident on Saturday, and the fire department followed up with an announcement the following day.
The Dresden Environmental Office urges everyone to stay vigilant and to report any potential hornet nests to ensure the safety of all park visitors.
